A modular rocker inspired by tradition but built for today
The Idea
Inspired by my grandmother’s Thonet chair, I set out to design a rocker that carried the same warmth but with lighter construction, modular assembly, and modern proportions.
The Creation
I sketched and modeled multiple iterations, refining joinery and scale until the frame felt sturdy yet minimal. Each prototype brought the design closer to the balance of comfort and form.
The Tools
I modeled the chair in Fusion 360 and tested details with 3D-printed prototypes, focusing on real-world joinery and ergonomics.
The Final Product
A contemporary rocking chair with clean lines, modular assembly, and lasting comfort. It shows how a classic form can be reinterpreted with modern tools and accessible construction.
