An experimental render of a Porsche GT3 RS with glass wheels. A technical study in light, caustics, and materials that turned into a striking visual piece.
The Idea
This piece started as a simple art experiment in Blender. I wanted to push a familiar form into unfamiliar territory and see how far I could take the concept.
The result was a Porsche GT3 RS with glass wheels, a surreal detail that turned the car into something fragile and striking.
The Creation
The setup began with modeling and scene building, then experimenting with ways to make the glass feel believable. I worked through countless adjustments to materials, reflections, and lighting to keep the car grounded while letting the wheels stand out.
Much of the process was trial and error — testing poses, refining the studio environment, and making small changes that added up to a clean, dramatic presentation.
The Tools
The project was built entirely in Blender. It pushed me to get better at calculating light paths, optimizing meshes, and managing caustics to handle the complexity of glass without breaking the render.
Those refinements carried forward into how I now approach scenes that rely on realistic lighting or challenging materials.
The Final Product
The finished render was shared on Instagram as a short piece called Curb Rash. The final image balances technical precision with a playful twist, transforming a performance car into a study of fragility.
What began as a quick idea turned into an exercise in lighting, material accuracy, and the edge cases of realism in Blender.
